The Lillooet River

More Pictures

This is truly an adventure destination. Accessed by jet boat from the Harrison20 inch Cutthroat Trout River/Lake system, this is a unique opportunity to fish a remote location with excellent Dolly Varden and Cutthroat Trout fishing. Salmon do travel to these waters and can present a sudden and exciting change. This is a trip for those looking for something different.

The Lillooet River is 90 miles or 145 km long and originates with melt-water from the Lillooet Glacier high in the coast mountains north of Vancouver. It flows south and east past the towns of Pemberton and Mount Currie, to empty into the north end of Harrison Lake. A widening of the river near Pemberton forms Lillooet Lk (35.3 sq km). The lower river valley from Harrison Lake north is steeped in our local history and was part of the Douglas Road to the Interior, used between 1858 and 1862. This road was named after one of our more colourful and controversial Governors, Sir James Douglas. This road was the principle means of traveling to the Interior Gold Rush until a new road through the Fraser River Canyon was cut.
